An innovative seminar program offers novice boaters the chance to “Take the Wheel” at the upcoming United States Sailboat Show in October. The United States Sailboat Show has integrated an educational offering with the interactive component of boat demonstrations. “Take the Wheel” is a day-long educational package providing both “classroom” seminars and an introductory ride on one of six major styles of sailboats: weekend/racing cruising, family production cruising, bluewater, and catamaran.
The workshop
cost of $150 per person or $250 per couple includes:
- A two-day boat show pass
- Morning seminars
- Afternoon on-the-water boating experience
- All instruction and printed materials
- Continental Breakfast and Lunch
- Wine tasting social hour
- Two opportunities each program day to win $100 West Marine gift cards
- Friday, October 7, 2011 or Saturday, October 8, 2011
The workshop can accommodate 50 participants. The boat demo rides will be available on a first-come-first-served sign-up basis, with each participant guaranteed a ride on the boat of his or her choice, and potentially more.
The Annapolis School of Seamanship has been providing mariners of all experience levels with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed, safe decisions when operating and maintaining a vessel. Captain John Martino, president and founder of Annapolis School of Seamanship, and his team of highly qualified instructors, will lead three different morning seminars that are designed to inform new boat owners about the types of boats available and their uses; ownership options and considerations in the process of boat buying; and the safety and regulatory information integral to operating a vessel. if you have any questions or would like to find out more about the program, please call us at 410-268-8828 or Annapolis School of Seamanship at 410-263-8848.
