The Yacht Show at National Harbor

The Yacht Show at National Harbor concluded Sunday June 8th. Despite temperatures in the high 90's, strong buyers came out and made their presence known at the new National Harbor marina facilities.

There were several obstacles for The Yacht Show at National Harbor to overcome in order to get off the ground. The opening of the show was delayed until Friday after a micro burst on Wednesday night displaced a 15,000 sq. foot exhibitor's tent from its foundation and relocated it upside down on the hill adjacent to our show's site. The staff and exhibitors worked tirelessly to have the show up and running by Friday, and were greeted with sunny skies to start The Yacht Show at National Harbor.

The Yacht Show at National Harbor

Several highlights at The Yacht Show at National Harbor, besides the boats of course, included the Turkish boat builder's alliance and the Belgium Beer Garden each located in the International Pavilion."Imagine that Turkish boat builders have been in continuous production for the past 3,300 years" states Avi Levi, U.S. Director of the Turkish Yacht Builders Alliance "our pavilion has exposed American boat buyers to this tradition and expertise."

The VIP Lounge sponsored by American Global Yacht Group was the place to be for those looking to find shade, escape the heat and enjoy the delicious catering and complimentary beer, rum and vodka samplings.

The quality of attendance was certainly the focus among brokers at the show. John Regan of Boats and Yachts in Maryland has been handling several customers since the show and has a contract on one of those boats.

Dave Mallach with Vicem Yachts in New York reiterated John's sentiments, "while attendance was low, the quality of buyers was high." The heat index on Saturday and Sunday was well above 100 degrees.
